Always consider the source - national organizations, colleges and universities (especially colleges of veterinary medicine), companies with a history of good products, quality research and development and strong product support, etc. - before assuming that the information is accurate. You certainly would not want to hurt your companion based on someone else's opinion. For instance, we recently had a patient with a life-threatening disorder and on at least one web page, the prognosis was grim to grave. In this case, the disease was serious but often correctable. The patient lives today because its owner did not give up and looked for other information.
