David Gayk graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor's Degree and obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 1985. After graduating, he practiced for two years in Manassas, Virginia before moving to Knoxville. He practiced one year in a south Knoxville practice, and then in October 1985, opened a private practice, Companion Animal Hospital in the Fountain City community. As a private practitioner, he has interests in dermatology, preventative medicine and internal medicine. He is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, the Knoxville Veterinary Medical Academy and the Veterinary Information Network.
